Funding our schools starts with listening to the Whitehouse community.
The School Funding Election is a result of Whitehouse ISD’s collaboration with parents & taxpayers.
For almost 125 years, Whitehouse ISD leaders have understood that the best way to manage our schools is by listening to and collaborating with parents and taxpayers. This approach has helped our district earn the highest rating by the Texas Education Agency for financial accountable and kept our property tax rate one of the lowest in Smith County.
With the Texas Legislature taking a smaller role in funding our schools – and instead asking local taxpayers to make up the shortfall – our School Board and administrators work year-round with parents, grandparents, taxpayers, and business leaders to determine the best ways to maximize our tax dollars while maintaining our high-quality academic, fine arts, athletic, and Career & Technical Education programs.
The School Funding Election is a direct result of listening to our community, understanding the expectations of taxpayers, and spending countless hours reviewing funding priorities, analyzing academic and career training programs, and classroom safety initiatives.
It’s important to note that many school districts in Texas have already passed a School Funding Election.
